The U.S. Yahoo! Editorial has published a new gallery on Flickr with a selection of photos of the 12 most beautiful lakes in the world. And among the images of 17 other photographers selected, I was pleasantly surprised to see one of my own  photos taken 6 years ago in the beautiful lake region of Plitvice, Croatia.

Et voilà, we are March 20 and the spring equinox it is just today at 11:44AM in Paris. Night will equals the day, and days will become longer and longer … and also more beautiful: first buds, trees or flowers in fields, explosions of colors, mild temperatures and the end of cold and gray winter.

It’s time to enjoy the spring photos currently published in the gallery. And I hope this season will allow me to add many other spring pictures and desktop wallpapers.

Springtime

This week-end of may, beautiful weather and spring are back in Paris…

Some have noted, water is often present in my photographs: coastal landscape, landscapes of lakes, river or rivers, even simple pond with ducks. With its reflections, transparencies, lighting and colors, water whether in natural or urban environment is an aesthetic and photogenic element, that’s for sure. But even if we forget that sometimes the water is a little more than that: this is not a news, but we need sometimes to remember that water is a necessity of Life (example, water = up to 90% of some of our body cells). Water is also a material necessary for an industry that is very-too-greedy. Covering three-quarters of the Earth’s surface, it seems endless. Yet water, and especially drinking water, is a resource distributed unevenly in the world and is scarce in some regions, with the anthology of health problems that entails. When it is less rare, it is often polluted, as is the case for example of many groundwaters, and of course rivers which carrying their polluted alluviums into our big oceans. Bigs, but not enough to prevent heavy metals, variety of chemicals, and even multiple plastic particles in suspension in the water, to be absorbed by plankton and fish. Follow the food chain, you will find it in your plate…

A return to the sender isn’t it ? Let’s think about it…

Who would say seeing this beautiful waterscape that this river, like so many others, carries many pollutants that will sooner or later go into the Atlantic. An ocean pollution which has a level such high that it relegates, by comparison, oil spills and other fuel tanks emptying to simple (but telegenics) anecdotal episodes…

I’ve created this Natural Landscape group only a few months ago, and there are already… 1,300 members and 11,000 beautiful natural landscape pictures ! Wow !

Thanks for all for them for these testimonials of the beauty of this little blue planet lost in a sterile and lifeless deep space… a little planet that some guys called Earth…

By sharing their vision of  nature beauty, each of them layed a stone for protection of this nature that we, human beings, depend so much upon, but forgot it…

I do not  involve often in the flickr forums, or in pictures comments, essentially because I allways run out of time, and also due to my poor english…  Anyway, I really want to  thanks them for all their contributions !

Today browsing the web (I was searching for beautiful landscape photos), I found a website from whom name corresponds really to its content : Beautiful-landscape.com, from Alain Briot, a professional photographer, graduated from Academie Nationale des Beaux Arts in Paris and specialised in landscape photography. I discovered his work with pleasure, and encourage you to take a look on his breathtaking and amazing portfolio , or to read his numerous articles and essays. After that, you won’t be surprised if I tell you Alain Briot paints with light…

In most of personal website, you can find a links page, which includes a selection of websites the webmaster did like, and also a list of partners websites (link exchanges), most of time concerning the same subject, in order to increase and share visibility of the both linked websites on the www.

Nevertheless most of time the website description are very shorts, whereas some websites deserve more detailed article. This is the purpose of this new category, to describe some website I like, most of time on the same subject of Landscape-Photo.net : photography, nature, landscapes, travels, but also comparable topics, like sustainable development, ecology, respect of nature, etc…
