It was maybe eight or ten years that I had not had the opportunity to visit this magnificent Roman monument inscribed on the World Heritage List by UNESCO. A masterpiece that is indisputable proof of the genius and expertise of architects and engineers of ancient Rome, who had over 2,000 years ago built here this superbly preserved aqueduct. The Pont du Gard has through the centuries and resisted both periods of neglect and degradation, and also sometimes major floods of the river that flows at its feet: the Gardon.
